Will tricks Strand then Strand abandons him and goes to a nearby. I’m not sure at this point why Will tried to deceive Strand instead of just telling him from the beginning that he could help him find Alicia, but Fear The Walking Dead appears to be trying its hand at subterfuge.
This is when he drags the truth out of Will, learning that he does in fact know Alicia. Strand saves Will but his men are killed. He tricks Strand into going to a spot where she might be but when Strand and Will and a couple of Strand’s lackeys show up to the spot, they’re ambushed by the scavengers Will saw before. So much of it ends up being spent between Will and Strand talking about Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey)-a character who’s been given less screen-time over the past six episodes of the show than newcomer Will did in this episode alone. Strand, as usual, has some great lines and some great moments in his newfound role as the series’ villain. He asks him some questions and at one point Will asks him a question back leading to Howard popping in with “He’s asking the questions here!” which should illustrate the quality of dialogue at play. He feeds Will a heaping plate of pasta and pours him a glass of Scotch. Strand wears a goofy military uniform and brags about his little self-contained paradise.
Their leader is Strand-because naturally all of our heroes are leaders of their own communities now (except for Morgan (Lennie James) who appears to still be on the run from the nuclear blast in next week’s episode, having apparently failed to even come close to Strand’s success). Naturally, the place is now home to a thriving community of survivors.
